Zip Racing now has three cars in the stable. Zip Racing fans will be familiar with Sweetness. She is a 2000 model GT3-R with all the updates available from Porsche and has also been Zip’s best performer so far. All of Zip Racing’s wins, poles, and track records have come compliments of Sweetness.
Christine is no more. Zip's 2002 GT3-RS was Evil from day one. During the 2001 season the team never had a single crash (other than some NASCAR style fender banging) or mechanical failure. Then Christine came and the streak ended in a big way. Both Sweetness and Christine (Named “The Eagle” at the time) came home from the Daytona tests with big crash damage. On the way down to the 2002 24 hour Christine broke out of her tie downs in the hauler and crashed into Sweetness destroying a generator in the process. Then she ripped open her waterline in the opening laps of the 24 leading to an early engine failure and a last place finish. Christine was not done at the 24. In Homestead her infectious evil vibes lead to two more crashes. Sweetness rebelled and went into the turn 4 wall and Christine found James Weaver in a big way out on the track. After Homestead the crew fired the engine in the shop only to find another cracked cylinder starting a mad scramble to get the engine fixed for Fontana where Christine tried to kill Steve for an hour with a loose lower control arm. The battery also broke loose throwing acid all over the car. Things came to a head in Phoenix when Spencer crashed Christine into the wall trying to avoid an AGT car that decided to stop very suddenly on the back straight. Something had to be done, so Christine was stripped to the bare chassis and sent down to Haiti, where a Voodoo witch doctor preformed an exorcism. The car was then repainted inside and out and has been renamed “Misty” by the Aletheon guys in Detroit. They said she looks so good that it makes one’s eyes misty, but we all know the easiest place to find a girl named misty so we can only imagine who she was really named after. (Perhaps they have confused lap records with lap dances) Finally we have the new car. Zip Racing took delivery of “Vera” last week. The brand new 2003 car is preparing for her debut in Sebring and hopes are the luck she brings will make up for what happened last year. |
