A quick guide to this website's admin features

Hi, Dude, Webbie here, with a few new options for you.

The "Overide Front Page Article" does just what it says, when you publish (or overwrite) an article it is automatically placed as the front page article. This can be overridden by simply inputting the desired article number (i.e. you create article 167, but want article 161 to lead off, or you edit article 159, but want more current article on front. Do your article creation/overwrite then go back to admin and input your desired opening page article's number in the Override box).

The Edit Article Include will let you tweak the HTML for a chosen article, WITHOUT placing it on front page (or changing the existing Headline/subtext copy (overwrite the article to replace them). Use this to add an image to a preexisting article, or for simple typo correction.

Edit Comment Include lets you edit comments on the chosen article page (if someone spams you or posts an egregiously nasty comment) This function can later be password protected to keep the univited public from editing other people comments, but for the moment both Comment, and the Edit Comment function may be accessed via each article' comment button. The Commenting aspect of your site adds many new elements to the utility of your communications. Certain pages of your site could become forums, for instance, or you and some other racing intellectual could endlessly debate the "theory" of vehicle dynamics...etc. etc.

Images need you to size them (try Google's free Picassa for easy image tools) if wider than 600 px. Use back button after copying the HTML tag that is generated, paste tag into desired article (via either new article or edit article).GIVE IT A .jpg extension and a ONE word name!!

Music!!!! Become a DJ...share your godforsaken HipHop Rap crap :-). Or to be professional about it, post racing related audio clips.

Pretty much same as image upload, but do NOT include the .mp3 extension, just a ONE word filename, LINK TEXT may be any text you want. For best results, process your mp3 to 24k mono, for both small file size (you will run out of space real quick if you use this much) and to facilitate streaming on dialup connections (dialup has difficulty with CD quality mp3s). I envision sound clips of your Speed Channel interviews for instance, or field recorded stuff from the trackside. I have some sound software I can set you up with when we get together next.

It's Hard to Kiss the Lips at Night That Chew Your Ass Out All Day Long

The subheader on the opening page currently has your email address (in a mailto: link) and there is a trick that will let you add text to that element (you will need to add HTML line breaks <br>). Use the Comment Edit function and enter "Front" (no quotes). This will let you add "Breaking News etc." The script will point you to a nonexistent page (i.e. newsFront.html) when you use this trick, but just go back to your homepage and you can see your edits.

The archive page features my RSS feed, and this is an example of how your site's content can be distributed to other sites. We will talk about this soon.

And if you haven't heard the Amazing Cherry Bombs (Rodney Crowell and Vince Gill), do give this a listen. It is both hysterically funny (the video can be found on the web) and the 3rd longest country song title ever.
