2/1/05 The 2005 Racing season gets underway this week as teams from the Grand American Road Racing Association head to Daytona International Speedway for the Rolex 24. This year promises to be one of the best 24-hours in recent memory as many of the top drivers from F1, NASCAR, Champ Car, and the IRL will join the best sportscar drivers to make up the 63 car grid. Thanks to the Grand Am rules that keep the playing feild level, the 2005 Rolex 24 is anyone's race. This year there are only two classes in the Rolex Series. The DP Class, short for Daytona Prototype, and the GT Class which is last year's SGS and GT classes combined. Spencer will be racing with TPC in the #36 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. He will join co-drivers John Littlechild, Mike Levitas, Randy Pobst, and J.F. Dumolin. The team is looking to improve on last year's second place finish and after turning the fastest lap in pre season testing, the #36 is one of the favorites in GT. Joining the Rolex Series is the Grand Am Cup. Spencer will once again drive the Race Prep Motorsports Porche 911 in the GS class with last year's champion Craig Stanton. The RPM team has expanded from two to four cars this year. Practice gets underway this Thurdsday for both series. The Grand Am Cup race takes place Friday afternoon and the Rolex 24 goes green at 12:00 noon Saturday. Check back for daily updates. | ||
