8/31/05 Last weekend at Mid-Ohio bad racing luck turned two potential podium finishes into disappointments for Spencer and his teammates in both the Grand Am Rolex and Grand Am Cup series. In Saturday’s Rolex race Spencer started in fifth place and quickly worked his way to the front. At the end of the first stint Spencer handed over to teammate Randy Pobst. Thanks to the timing of the caution Spencer was able to give Randy the car in the lead with a 1 lap lead over all the GT cars except the second place Pontiac GTO of Ron Fellows and Paul Edwards. With a great shot at a win and a second place all but locked up Randy headed out on the track, but two laps into his stint disaster struck. Several cars checked up in front of him in turn one causing a chain reaction that resulted in damage to the front radiator of the #36 Porsche. The contact put an end to what seemed to be a sure win. On Sunday the same theme continued. Spencer and teammate Craig Stanton found themselves in second place in the closing stages of the Grand Am Cup race. However, with 4 laps to go the car began to run out of fuel. The car should have made it easily to the finish but for some reason during the last four laps Spencer had to nurse the car around the track falling back to 6th in the process. 6th place was a strong finish for Craig and Spencer but not the podium the RPM team had hoped for. Spencer would like to send his thanks to everyone who has posted on "Allie's" page over the past few days and invites others to continue in her memory. Spencer's next race is September 9th in Phoenix Arizona. ~Linds 9/6/2005 We'll be following you this weekend in AZ. Best of luck! You always make us proud! Newport 9/7/2005 Owego Ny .
